The Xero Roadshow

Yesterday Louise and I had the pleasure of attending the Xero Roadshow with Sarah of S Hayes Bookkeeping.  The Roadshow was heldThe British Museum at The British Museum in London, which truly was a stunning venue.

We got to meet a number of Xero Add on Partners, including Go Cardless, Receipt Bank, Vend, Deputy, Re-Leased, Microsoft.  It really was great to meet the partners and get to know some more about these popular add ons.

Gary Turner, the UK MD, kicked off the presentations with a great talk about the possibilities of the practice of the future, exciting developments and events.  He also talked about AI and machine learning and how this can be applied to Xero - it really was facinating, even though I am not technical by any means!

I think the most exciting development relevant to our current clients is the CIS funciton.  We have been advised Gary Turnerthat this is in development, hopefully going live early in 2017 in time for the new tax year.  We have volunteered to be part of the Beta trials for this function and look forward to working alongside Xero on this.

We then had a great presentation from Ashley Driver and Neil Sheehan with the latest product updates for the core platform and payroll.  We're looking forward to the changes that are being brought in over the next few months, and believe they will be a great addition to Xero, expanding the functionality and customer experience even further.

Next up was a facinating presentation from Apple, all about how Apple products can be used in Business.  It was reallyApple In Business interesting to see how Apple work with the Business 2 Business market and how their products assist various industries, and various apps and software developers work with Apple to bring us these great apps.  I think the most interesting part was the security features Apple implements, how, in an ever increasing digital world, Apple help to keep us and our businesses protected.

Lastly we had a presentation from Paul Bulpitt, Head of Accounting, about accounting in 2020 and beyond - how the accountancy profession is changing and will be affected by HMRC's Making Tax Digital, and the evolving of accountancy in general as the world brings digital and cloud solutions to the norm.  This included a panel discussion with some local accountancy leaders and a Q&A with the senior management team of Xero.

After the presentation we got a chance to mingle with other Xero partners and Xero staff.  We had the opportunity of meeting Gary Turner and discussing the future developments of Xero and accountancy in general.  It was a fantastic day, and was really impressive to see how Xero has grown over the last 4 years since coming into the market, and how they plan to continue to grow the software and company over the coming years.  We are really excited, and privilaged, to be a part of the journey.  Roll on Xero Con next year!
